Training for Organisations
Mental Health, Wellbeing and Inclusion CPD
Practical, flexible training designed around your organisation
At Curborough Academy for Social Sciences (CASS), we recognise that every workplace is different — and so are its training needs.
We provide engaging, interactive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities for employers, organisations and professional teams looking to develop their understanding of mental health, wellbeing, communication and individual differences.
Whether you're seeking to improve awareness across your workforce, support managers in responding to colleagues experiencing difficulties, or help your team better understand the needs of the people they work with, we can discuss training that is relevant to your organisation.
Our sessions are delivered by an experienced, qualified educator with a background in Psychology, counselling education and adult learning.
Training is available live online or face-to-face by arrangement.
Mental Health Awareness for Employees
Understanding mental health and supporting wellbeing at work
Our interactive three-hour workshop introduces employees to essential concepts in mental health and wellbeing, encouraging informed, supportive and non-judgemental approaches in the workplace.
Topics include:
- Understanding mental health and wellbeing.
- Awareness of common mental health conditions, including anxiety and depression.
- Recognising when someone may be experiencing difficulties.
- Challenging stigma and misconceptions.
- Developing empathetic listening and supportive communication.
- Understanding professional boundaries and appropriate sources of support.
Sessions incorporate practical examples, discussion and workplace scenarios to help participants apply their learning.
Suggested duration: 3 hours
Suggested group size: Up to 12 participants
Mental Health Awareness for Managers and Team Leaders
Supporting staff wellbeing through informed and confident leadership
Managers and team leaders can play an important role in creating a supportive working environment, but they may feel uncertain about how to respond when an employee experiences mental health difficulties.
Our management-focused workshop explores the knowledge and communication skills needed to approach these situations appropriately.
Topics include:
- Understanding mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.
- Recognising possible signs of difficulty without making assumptions or attempting diagnosis.
- Initiating supportive and sensitive conversations.
- Responding with empathy while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Understanding the importance of confidentiality, workplace policies and reasonable adjustments.
- Signposting employees towards appropriate sources of support.
The emphasis is on awareness, communication and practical workplace responses — not clinical assessment or therapy.
Suggested duration: 3 hours
Suggested group size: Up to 12 participants
Bespoke Awareness and Inclusion Training
Training that reflects the people you work with
Sometimes an organisation needs training that goes beyond general mental health awareness.
For example, your employees may work alongside neurodivergent colleagues, support customers with particular communication needs, or provide services to people experiencing psychological, neurological or physical conditions.
CASS can develop bespoke educational workshops to help teams build their understanding and respond more confidently and inclusively.
Depending on your organisation's requirements, topics may include:
- Autism and neurodiversity: Understanding communication differences, sensory experiences and inclusive environments.
- Anxiety and depression: Developing awareness and appropriate supportive responses.
- Schizophrenia and psychosis: Understanding experiences, challenging misconceptions and reducing stigma.
- Personality disorders: Developing awareness, challenging stereotypes and understanding appropriate professional boundaries.
- Cerebral palsy: Understanding the condition, accessibility and individual support needs.
- Communication and interpersonal skills: Developing listening, empathy, self-awareness and effective interactions.
We can also discuss other areas of psychological, social and disability awareness that fall within our teaching expertise.
Where training relates to the needs of a particular individual or group, we emphasise person-centred understanding, respect for individual preferences and inclusive practice, rather than making assumptions based on a diagnosis.
Duration, content and delivery arrangements are agreed according to your organisation's needs.

The programme includes:
- Seven hours of tutor-led learning.
- Structured learning activities and assessment.
