Mondays 9.30 am - 3 pm

Wednesdays 4.30 pm - 8.30 pm

We are pleased to offer the SEG Award in Counselling Concepts and the SEG Certificate in Counselling Skills as an integrated 35-week course, starting in September 2026 and concluding in June 2027.

**What’s on Offer?**

In the first 8 weeks, you will complete the Level 2 component of the course, and you will receive your certificate at the end of this phase. During this time, you will learn and practice real counselling skills under the guidance of a qualified, experienced, and practising counsellor. Additionally, you will be introduced to the theoretical foundations of counselling and learn about ethical practices.

Following the Level 2 component, you will work through 4 modules for Level 3, which will enhance your skills and theoretical knowledge. You will become familiar with ethical frameworks and begin focusing on your self-development as an emerging counsellor.

**What Do I Need to Do the Course?**

To enrol, you need a reasonable level of English to complete written assignments and follow lessons. You will require internet access to participate in online work and lessons, as well as access to a device such as a smartphone, laptop, tablet, or PC. Textbooks and notebooks are optional. You must also be over 19 years of age when the course begins.

**What Will the Course Qualify Me to Do?**

Many people start their counselling journey to better understand themselves and others, support peers, and improve their communication skills. Several past students have reported enhanced communication with family, friends, and colleagues even before they began seeing clients.

However, most participants aim for a career in counselling, which requires at least a Level 4 qualification. Once you have achieved Level 4, you can become a member of a professional body such as the BACP and are qualified to work as a counsellor. Curborough Academy has chosen not to offer Level 4, as it involves mandatory face-to-face hours that we cannot practically oversee remotely. Nonetheless, we can guide you to reputable providers and offer references and advice for your next steps.

**What Will Learning Online Be Like?**

We will utilise Microsoft Teams, enabling you to access our Teams site, where you can find lessons, resources, and other course materials. While we encourage attendance at lessons, we also understand the demands of adult life. If you have personal appointments, we will record the lessons and make them available after the session. Assignments will be set, submitted, marked, and returned via Teams. Instructions on navigating online learning will be provided during an induction session, and regular breaks will be given throughout each lesson.

**How Do I Apply?**

To apply, please complete the enquiry form on our website, and we will respond via email to offer an advisory call. Alternatively, you can contact us at karen@curboroughacademy.uk or call 07356063756 for a chat.
