We are pleased to offer the SEG Award in Counselling Concepts and the SEG Certificate in Counselling Skills as an integrated 35-week course.

At CASS, online learning means live lessons with an experienced tutor, opportunities to ask questions and discuss ideas, and the support of a small learning community. You're not simply purchasing course materials to work through independently — you're joining a real class. 

 What’s on Offer? 

In the first 8 weeks, you will complete the Level 2 component of the course, and you will receive your certificate shortly after the end of this phase. During this time, you will learn and practice real counselling skills under the guidance of a qualified, experienced, and practising counsellor. You will also be introduced to the theoretical foundations of counselling and learn about ethical practice. 

After the Level 2 component, you will complete 4 Level 3 modules to strengthen your skills and theoretical knowledge. You will become familiar with ethical frameworks and begin focusing on your self-development as an emerging counsellor. 

What Do I Need to Do the Course?   

To enrol, you need a reasonable level of English to complete written assignments and follow lessons. You will require internet access to participate in online work and lessons, as well as access to a device such as a smartphone, laptop, tablet, or PC. Textbooks and notebooks are optional. You must be aged 19 or over when the course begins. 

What Will the Course Qualify Me to Do? 

Many people start their counselling journey to better understand themselves and others, support peers, and improve their communication skills. Several past students have reported enhanced communication with family, friends, and colleagues even before they began seeing clients.   

For those wishing to pursue a career as a professional counsellor, Levels 2 and 3 provide a foundation for progressing to practitioner training, normally at Level 4 or above. 

Qualifying practitioner training involves further theoretical and practical learning, supervised client placements and meeting the requirements of relevant professional bodies, such as the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). 

CASS does not currently offer Level 4 practitioner training because of the face-to-face teaching and supervised practice requirements. However, we are happy to help students explore appropriate progression opportunities with other providers and offer guidance on their next steps. 

What Will Learning Online Be Like?  

We offer live online lessons. 

We will utilise Microsoft Teams, enabling you to access our Teams site, where you can find lessons, resources, and other course materials. 

We understand that adult learners have work, family and other commitments. Although regular attendance is important, we will provide appropriate learning materials and support if you occasionally miss a session. Where suitable, recordings of teaching content may be made available, subject to confidentiality and consent considerations. Personal discussions and counselling skills practice will not routinely be recorded for general student access. 

Assignments will be set, submitted, marked, and returned via Teams. Instructions on navigating online learning will be provided during an induction session, and regular breaks will be given throughout each lesson.
