Build your confidence, improve your exam skills and get more from your Psychology studies
Studying A-Level Psychology can be fascinating, but it can also be challenging. Whether you're struggling with research methods, finding evaluation difficult or wondering how to structure a 16-mark essay, sometimes a little extra support can make all the difference.
At Curborough Academy for Social Sciences (CASS), our A-Level Psychology Workshops provide friendly, affordable, small-group learning opportunities designed to help students develop their knowledge, improve their examination technique and feel more confident about their studies.
Led by an experienced, qualified Psychology teacher, our workshops offer an opportunity to revisit tricky topics, ask questions and practise the skills needed to succeed in A-Level Psychology.
What are the A-Level Psychology Workshops?
Our workshops are live, interactive online sessions, each focusing on a particular topic or examination skill.
Unlike a full A-Level course, you don't need to commit to attending every session. You can choose the workshops that are most relevant to your needs, whether you want help with a specific topic, some additional examination practice or an opportunity to strengthen your understanding before your assessments.
Workshops are delivered in small groups (a maximum of 6), allowing students to benefit from expert guidance and learn from one another without the cost of regular individual tuition.
We want everyone to feel comfortable participating. Students are welcome to ask questions, contribute to discussions or simply listen while they build their confidence.
What topics will the workshops cover?
Our workshops will focus on areas that students frequently find challenging, with topics selected to support both subject knowledge and examination performance.
Examples include:
Tackling 16-mark essays: Understanding assessment objectives, planning answers, developing evaluation and writing effective conclusions.
Research methods made easier: Understanding experimental designs, sampling, variables, reliability, validity and other important research concepts.
Inferential statistics: Choosing appropriate statistical tests, interpreting critical values and understanding statistical significance.
Developing evaluation skills: Moving beyond description to write effective analytical and evaluative responses.
Applying psychological knowledge: Understanding how to use theories, explanations and research in unfamiliar examination scenarios.
Exam question practice: Working through examination-style questions, understanding mark schemes and identifying ways to improve answers.
Knowledge of topic areas - any topic from Paper 1, 2 or 3
Additional workshops may be introduced in response to student demand.
Why choose a small-group workshop?
Individual tuition can be extremely helpful, but it isn't always necessary or affordable. Many students benefit from some additional guidance on particular topics without needing weekly one-to-one lessons.
Our small-group workshops offer a more affordable alternative while retaining the opportunity to interact directly with an experienced teacher.
Learning alongside other students can also be reassuring. You may discover that other people have exactly the same questions or difficulties as you, and hearing different approaches can help develop your own understanding.
Most importantly, the workshops provide a supportive environment where students can practise, make mistakes and develop their confidence without feeling under pressure.
How do the workshops work?
All workshops take place live online, so students can join from home.
Sessions are designed to be practical and interactive, combining clear explanations with worked examples, examination practice and opportunities to ask questions.
Each workshop has a defined focus so that students know what to expect and can choose the sessions most relevant to their studies.
There is no requirement to enrol on a full programme. Students can book individual workshops according to their needs and interests.
Who are the workshops for?
Our workshops are suitable for students studying A-Level Psychology who would benefit from additional subject support or focused examination practice.
They may be particularly useful for students who:
Find certain topics difficult to understand or remember.
Know the subject content but struggle to apply it in examination answers.
Want to improve their essay-writing and evaluation skills.
Would benefit from additional practice and feedback.
Are looking for affordable support alongside their existing studies.
Want to build confidence before assessments and examinations.
Workshops will initially focus on AQA A-Level Psychology, with the specification and relevant year group clearly identified in each workshop description.
Affordable, flexible support
We believe that additional educational support should be accessible to as many students as possible.
By teaching small groups rather than exclusively offering individual tuition, we can keep the cost per student lower while maintaining the quality of teaching, interaction and support.
Workshops are booked individually, so you only pay for the sessions you choose to attend. Prices and booking details will be provided for each workshop.
Interested in joining a workshop?
We are developing a programme of A-Level Psychology Workshops covering a range of popular topics and examination skills.
If you would like to hear about upcoming workshops, have a particular topic you would like us to cover or would like to enquire about arranging a workshop for a group of students, please get in touch.
